We know snow in Minnesota! This small and simple feeder is great for someone who lives in an apartment like me or for a first time bird feeder. It's small, easy to fill and easy to clean. You can adjust the height of the dome to try and keep larger birds out or you can also slide down seed cakes in the middle to offer your birds extra seed. My birds love it. I get everything from finches to blue jays with it.

Sometimes pigeons try to take over and vaccuum up the seed. When that happens, I simply lower the dome making it hard for them to land. Other birds the size of cardinals and smaller can easily duck in and eat in peace. You can put just about any seed in here. I usually offer a sunflower mix to get the most variety of birds.

Some people use this feeder to offer mealworms for non seed eating birds like orioles, robins, eastern bluebirds, Carolina wrens, chickadees, titmice and nuthatches.

As with all Droll Yankee feeders, this has a life time warranty against squirrell damage.

Seed Saver Domed Feeder Specifications

The Droll Yankees Seed Saver domed bird feeder is perfect for attracting a variety of birds. This feeder features a large, 10 inch dome that serves to protect the feeder tray from squirrels, undesirable birds, and the elements.

The unique versatility of this feeder allows you to limit the access of undesirable squirrels and birds by adjusting the distance between the dome and feeder tray. Move the dome closer to the dish and the feeder becomes songbird selective. The 7 inch diameter feeder tray is 2 inches deep and will accommodate a virtually endless variety of bird foods including seed, suet, fruit, nuts, and table scraps. Simply slide the feeder dome up the included hanging rod or unscrew the feeder tray for quick and easy cleaning and filling.

The feeder dome and tray are clear plastic to keep the birds and the seed level visible at all times, and the brass hanging rod is designed to last.

This feeder may be hung with the included hanging rod or pole mounted using any pole with a 3/4 inch threaded adaptor (1/2 inch pipe thread).

How To

If you live in an apartment and don't want a shell mess below, consider filling the feeder with a hull-less mix like sunflowers out of the shell and peanut hearts.
To cut back on starlings and house sparrows offer only black oil sunflower in this feeder.
If grackles and other black birds take over your feeder, fill it with only safflower--nothing else. Grackles and house sparrows do not like the taste, starlings are unable to eat it, and birds like cardinals, rose-breasted grosbeaks, house finches, chicka
